Organization of the Meeting to Launch Activity of the Project “Youth and Roads That Speak – Phase II in Vinh Long Province,” Funded by AIP Foundation (USA)
On the afternoon of August 25, 2026, at the Hall of Vinh Long Department of Education and Training, AIP Foundation, in coordination with Department of Education and Training, organized a meeting to run the activity “Developing the plan and implementing infrastructure improvements around project schools” as part of the Project “Youth and roads that speak – Phase II in Vinh Long province”.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Le Tien Nam, Chairman of Vinh Long Union of Friendship Organizations; Mr. Trinh Van Ngoan, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training; Mr. Nhan Van Gia, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction; Representatives of Road Management Area IV; Representatives of the People’s Committees of the communes and wards: Long Chau, Tan Ngai, Tan Hanh, Ben Tre, Phu Khuong, An Hoi, Son Dong, Phu Quoi, Long Ho and Song Phu; Members of Project Management Board of the Project “Youth and roads that speak – Phase II in Vinh Long province” and representatives of the technical consulting unit. Representing the AIP Foundation was Ms. Truong Thi Nguyet Trang, Senior Program Manager.
The activity “Developing the plan and implementing infrastructure improvements around project schools” is one of the key activities of the Project “Youth and roads that speak”, jointly implemented by AIP Foundation and Vinh Long Department of Education and Training since January 2026. The activity focuses on discussing and reaching agreement on solutions to improve traffic safety in school areas, based on students’ experiences shared through the Youth Engagement App (YEA) and the results of the School Star Rating for Schools (SR4S).
Following the meeting, AIP Foundation and the relevant agencies and local authorities reached agreement on the plan to implement infrastructure improvement measures in areas rated one or two stars. The proposed measures include installing traffic signs and signal systems; implementing speed management solutions in school zones (such as speed humps and crosswalks); upgrading pedestrian walkways and expanding roadways, sidewalks, and drainage systems; planting greenery and installing sidewalk barriers and applying the school zone safety handbook developed by AIP Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Construction.
